Special Features of this training:
- Using video, we feature demonstration of treatment of a real client family including the MIM assessment, feedback to the parents and several Theraplay sessions
- The training is interactive, intense and practical—you’ll leave with the knowledge and skills to begin using Theraplay in your work
- It features video of Theraplay treatment with many different clients in addition to the demonstration family
- The training includes interactive sessions to practice a variety of Theraplay activities
- The training concludes with the creation of a treatment plan for one of your own clients and a chance to practice it for feedback
Learning Objectives for Level One Theraplay & MIM:
- Administer the MIM and analyze it at a beginning level
- Conduct feedback sessions with parents based upon the MIM analysis
- Use the MIM as a guideline for Theraplay treatment planning
- Observe demonstrations of Theraplay treatment and techniques
- Practice Theraplay activities in dyads
- Identify the types of behaviors that require a particular dimension
- Utilize the four Theraplay dimensions to treat the specific needs of a child
- Describe how Theraplay is applied to meet the needs of children with behavior problems, foster and adopted children, children with ASD, and older children
- Describe how to guide parents to participate in a Theraplay treatment session
Level One training prepares participants to begin using Theraplay Informed Practice in their work. We recommend beginning with an easier case to get practice and confidence before trying to work with complex families or trauma. Professional development opportunities to improve Theraplay skills are available, including Level Two training with its modular options.

Deposit: A deposit if 25% of the full regular fee is required to secure your booking. The balance is due 21 days prior to the start of the training. Payment can be made on-line, by phone, or by mailing a check in US dollars. Please note your registration is not secured until the deposit is received in our office.
Theraplay Book: If you already own the third edition, please apply the discount Code TYBOOK to receive a $30 deduction from your registration fee.
Book Shipping: We cannot guarantee delivery prior to the training for registrations received less than 10 days in advance or from registrants outside the U.S. Your book will ship within 5 days of receipt of your registration. To have your book shipped the next business day after your registration is received, please select and pay for the priority book shipment. For overnight shipment or other options, please contact our office directly. See above for an explanation of the priority shipping option.
Bring a Friend Rate: Please note that the first person must pay the full fee and subsequent registrants from the same organization may take advantage of the reduced rate. Clinicians in private practice who want to bring a colleague may also use the “bring a friend rate”, but it is limited to one friend. The “bring a friend” rate cannot be combined with any other discount or special offer.
Student Discount: With proof, you are eligible to register at the discounted rate of $700. Cannot be used in combination with other discounts, and offer is limited to two students per training.
Training Handouts: We’ve gone green! All materials (handouts and power points) will be sent to you as an electronic file 7-10 days prior to the training. You are encouraged to bring them on your device (or copy them if you must) for reference. You will ONLY be provided with reference materials that will be needed at the training. If you bring an electronic device, there may be limitations for charging your device depending on the location of the training. If you would like a hard copy of the materials it will be your responsibility to print and bring to the training. Training sites will not be able to provide hard copies of handouts during the course of the training.
If you would rather receive a three-ring binder with the 100+ pages of materials, you can pre-order this for a fee of $25 when you register below. Sorry, we cannot accept orders received less than 21 days prior to the training. Binders will be delivered to you at the training site when you check-in.
Cancellations: Full refunds minus a $50 processing fee will be granted for cancellations made at least 21 days prior to the training. No refund will be granted for cancellation made less than 21 days prior, although we will credit your payment to another training. Credits must be used within 3 years of cancellation date or will be forfeited.
Attendance: Please note that your attendance at the full 26 hours is required in order to receive a completion letter. We cannot give credit for partial attendance or issue letters for partial CE’s. Only people who have completed the full 26 hours can be given credit in our database for completing the training, which will allow them to enter the practicum or say they are doing Theraplay Informed Practice. This is a requirement of the professional organizations who have accredited us to provide CEs.
