In this workshop, we will explore the meaning of what "culture" means to an individual's identity, both from the therapist's side as well as the client's. The first part will focus on the difference between "Where are you from?" and "Where are you a local?" to discover a more nuanced sense of what attributes make a person feel "at home". The second part of the workshop will focus on developing a more attuned ear for cultural attributes in a client's narrative to help them develop and deeper contextual sense of their life narrative. The workshop will include discussion on intergenerational trauma, genetic changes due to historic trauma and immigration.

Learning Objectives:
1. List three questions to determine an answer to: "Where are you a local?"
2. As a result of this training, I can name a behavior I have that I did not previously consider as attributed to my culture
3. List two steps for considering a client problem as a cultural issue
