How to Work With Men with David Klow, LMFT / Author of "You Are Not Crazy: Letters From Your Therapist

Regardless of the modality, working with men in treatment takes on an additional component. This presentation helps practitioners learn additional dimensions in working with men. Attendees will explore how men securely attach, and discover the particular barriers to attachment that men face. Particular attention will be given to our own understanding of modern masculinity.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe patterns of attachment that shape men's development
  2. Analyze barriers to intimacy that inhibit many men
  3. Assess their own biases around modern masculinity and how they shape treatment

David Klow is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder and owner of Skylight Counseling Center. He is also the author of You Are Not Crazy: Letters from Your Therapist, from Wyatt-Mackenzie Publishing, which helps normalize the process of therapy. David is an Adjunct Faculty member at Adler University's Master's in Couple and Family Therapy Program. David is also a Clinical Member of and Approved Supervisor through The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He received his Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University along with extensive advanced training in The Family Institute Post-Graduate Clinical Fellowship. Today David runs Skylight, manages his expanding clinical staff, offers numerous professional trainings and workshops, and sees clients on a regular basis.
