Here at The Theraplay Clinic, our clinicians strive to provide mental health care at the highest standard to the community we serve. We offer clinical therapy services in both English and Spanish to address a multitude of mental health and behavioral challenges for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field
  • Licensure at full clinical level (LCPC, LCSW, Psy.D). However, clinicians awaiting full licensure are still encouraged to apply
  • Completion of Level One Theraplay. However, clinicians interested and willing to become Theraplay trained are encouraged to apply.
  • Maintain professional liability insurance
  • Specialized clinical experience working with children and families
  • Evening and weekend availability needed


  • Conduct telehealth and in-person therapy sessions, mostly Theraplay, for a minimum caseload of 5 families
  • Enroll in The Theraplay Institute Practicum and work towards certification, if still in the process of completing certification
  • Complete clinical documentation in a timely manner
  • Seek Theraplay Supervision


  • Client referrals

  • Compensation for hour session upon completion of Theraplay Certification = $55 -$84
  • Compensation for hour session while in process of obtaining Theraplay Certification = $46 -$70

Desired Qualities:

  • Experience providing Theraplay to children and families and/or groups
  • Experience working with children who have been internationally adopted, been in foster care, and/or have had multiple attachment disruptions
  • Experience working with children and families who have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma and diagnoses such as ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, and/or sensory processing needs
  • Persons with diverse backgrounds and experience are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates are highly preferred
  • Enthusiastic, warm, compassionate, highly organized, and capable of contributing new ideas

The Theraplay Institute in Chicago, Illinois, is looking to hire Camp Theraplay Support Staff. The position is to assist in direct work with camp participants during programming. The position is a week-long commitment July 22-26, 2024 from 8:30am – 3:30pm plus a three-hour orientation on the morning of July 20, 2022.   • Aid and support participants and clinical staff during group programming
  • Help maintain structure and predictability during transition times throughout the camp day
  • Assist participants in utilizing sensory room as needed
  • Ensure safe drop-off and pick-up of participants with authorized adults
  • Assist Camp Theraplay Overseer in managing camp logistics (receiving and setting up food deliveries, helping guest programmers set up, etc.)


  • Minimum two years working with children ages 5-10
  • Preferred minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, education, child development or other related field
  • Clean background check

The Theraplay Clinic offers:

  • Total pay of $720
  • Catered lunches included in orientation (7/20) and on camp days (7/22-7/26)
