Theraplay and TBRI: Combining Attachment-Focused Interventions to Treat Trauma* NEW! (*limited time!)
Have you ever wondered what other interventions might pair well with Theraplay? What is an intervention that focuses heavily on working with parents? Is there an intervention that heavily incorporates sensory processing into treating trauma? Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) might just be the intervention you seek. In this workshop, you will learn about the history of TBRI and how it was developed by Drs. Karyn Purvis and David Cross. You will gain insight into how TBRI’s three pillars of trauma-informed care are aligned with Theraplay’s four dimensions of parent-child relationships. Building strong attachment and empathy are hallmarks of both interventions and this course will help you understand the basics of how to marry the two.
Working with Dissociation in Children within Theraplay: Overcoming Impasses* NEW (*limited time)
In this special program, Karen introduces an adapted version of Janina Fisher’s Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment model to working with children in play therapy. This model works particularly well within Theraplay sessions, as Theraplay is a relational therapy where children often trigger into dissociative parts. This dissociation can lead to sessions going wrong and/or becoming stuck. This can be frustrating and disheartening for play therapists. However, once therapists understand that the child is dissociating and how to work with this, the therapist can effectively process the trauma with the child using Theraplay activities. Children and parents feel more empowered and more in control as a result.
Administer an MIM Online
Our world seems to be changing daily as a result of COVID-19. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the need to respond to clients in need, and with COVID-19, it seems everyone could use more support and social interaction. So, how can we get a new Theraplay client started over telehealth platforms? Let a Theraplay pro show you how to administer a MIM!

Identifying and Working with Metaphors: ‘Aha Moments’
Within each family’s culture are metaphors that symbolize their reality. These metaphors often shape their resistance or openness to change and can subtly affect the practitioner. Thus, the practitioner’s job is to find and use those metaphors to direct change.
