Nancy Soliz

Nancy’s professional experience has mainly focused on working with children and their families. Her passion is working with childhood trauma along with attachment and helping the system around those children. She has worked with military families in Ft. Riley, Kansas; a variety of clientele at a university clinic; therapeutic foster children and their respective family systems; children in a home/school-based setting; and most recently in private practice. The majority of her current clients are trying to navigate co-parenting situations and behavioral concerns.

Nancy started her educational journey as a Marriage and Family Therapist by receiving her bachelor’s degree in Family Relations and Child Development with a minor in Psychology in 2004 from Oklahoma State University. From that point, she went on to obtain my master’s degree at Kansas State University in Family Studies and Human Services with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. She received her license in the state of Oklahoma as a Marriage and Family Therapist in September 2010 (#1001). She has an additional certification as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. She is also a Certified Theraplay ® Practitioner and an EMDR Certified Therapist and Consultant.

Nancy was introduced to Theraplay in 2007. She used it throughout her profession, but it wasn’t until 2018 that she had the ability to work towards certification through supervision. It was amazing to her to see the difference in the way she practiced Theraplay through the intense supervision process. She has become a better Theraplay practitioner and a better therapist overall because of Theraplay supervision. She sees the change that she made as someone practicing with her Level 1 knowledge and the difference upon entering practicum. Nancy hopes that she can instill that clinical knowledge and growth in the next generation of Theraplay practitioners.

Nancy serves on the Oklahoma Association for Play Therapy board and has been the past president. And she grew up on a cattle ranch and farm.
