Annie Kiermaier


is a certified Theraplay therapist, trainer, and supervisor. She holds an MSW from the University of Maine at Orono, an A.D. in Nursing from the University of Maine at Augusta, and a B.A. from Earlham College in Richmond Indiana. Annie authored Chapter 7 “Theraplay for Children with Regulation Disorders” in the 3rd edition of Theraplay (Third Edition, 2010), and Chapter 6 “Home-Based Theraplay” in Theraplay: Theory, Applications and Implementation” (2021)   Annie has a lifelong passion for helping parents and their children have healthy, joyful attachment relationships.  After a 10 year career as a registered nurse, Annie provided home and office-based mental health therapy to families of young children in Mid-Coast Maine for 23 years, working with a wide variety of problems including families with attachment and trauma histories. She was a full time Theraplay trainer from 2013 to 2020, leading trainings in the US and around the world. The pandemic brought her home to Maine where she is leading trainings, both virtual and “live,” and enjoying semi-retirement. She can be reached at [email protected].
